Dear GreenTeam—

HUGE thanks to everyone who braved the rain/sleet/snow and came out to volunteer at Winter Jam NYC on Saturday. Despite the challenging weather, this was our most successful GreenTeam event yet! We had a record number of volunteers (60), and collected 5 times as many recyclables as we did at Winter Jam last year (30 bags)! We also officially launched our newest green element—the GreenQuest Eco Scavenger Hunt, which helped hundreds of event participants learn about environmental issues in NYC. All in all, your incredible enthusiasm and hard work helped the Parks Department provide a fun and free event for the City, while maintaining our precious natural areas so that  New Yorkers may continue to enjoy them for generations to come.

Stay tuned for information about how to volunteer at our upcoming spring and summer events. In the meantime, join us online! Thanks to the great work of our new Social Media Director Shannon,  you can now “friend,” “fan,” “link,” “follow,” and “check-in”with the GreenTeam all over the internet. Start by seeing photos from Saturday on our Picasa page.
